The smoke from the incense in the Man Mo Temple is overpowering despite fans to remove it. Signs are posted to request that devotes limit the amount of incense burned to reduce the smoke pollution inside the temple

A hike up Victoria Peak was on the agenda today but first we had to make a stop at the Man Mo Temple. Here hundreds of coils of incense are burned to attract the attention of the Gods.

A beer, mango daiquiri and sashimi were in order as we relaxed and enjoyed the view from the top of Victoria Peak.

After the pollution inside the temple, Linda and I were rewarded at the top of Victoria Peak with clear skies over Hong Kong as the fog lifted. Our hotel is located by the red dot in the lower left hand corner. A shorty at 21 stories it was dwarfed by its neighbors.

Nor would a trip to Hong Kong be complete without a sunset cruise on the Star Ferry that transports you from the mainland of Kowloon to the island of Hong Kong. At $2 HK (26 cents US) it is the best cruise deals anywhere.

A trip to Hong Kong would not be complete without a ride on the double decker "Ding Ding" trolly's that lumber along the main streets through town.

Along with Buddhism, there is a large population of Muslims in Hong Kong. Here are a few women having their photo taken while they enjoy the park.

Hong Kong harbor after dark. Linda and I did our best to acclimate ourselves to a new time zone after a 14 hour flight. We managed to stay awake and make our way over to Kowloon on the mainland to watch the "Laser Light Show" that happens nightly on Hong Kong. The laser show was a little disappointing when you compare it to a Dark Side of the Moon show at the local planetarium. Watching the sunset and the buildings put on their colors as it got dark was completely awesome, lasers were not really needed. The perfect nightcap was taking the Star Ferry across the strait back to the Island.

Our "hard sleeper" compartment on the train from Guangzhou, China to Lhasa, Tibet. 6 people to a compartment and no other seating for the next 54 hours.

3 sinks for 60 people for the next 54 hours on the train to Lhasa. It is bound to get interesting.

Imagine 2 squat toilets for 60 people on a train that rolls and bounces. Now imagine it for 2 1/2 days. You get the picture.

The passageway on the train gave some respite from the confines of our berth during our journey to Tibet.

This charming boy and I kept each other entertained for most of the first day on the train from Guangzhou to Lhasa.
