Kalsang Gyaltsen, the owner of Wonders of Tibet, the tour company we used to visit Tibet. All non-Chinese must travel with government permits, a guide and a driver. You may join a group, Linda and I chose to do a private tour.
Barkhor Street in the evening. Being very close to our hotel it was always a pleasant stroll.
The Potola Palace now a UNESCO World Heritage Site was at one time the seat of Tibetan Buddhism. Construction started in 1645 and took 45 years to complete the over 1,000 rooms it contains. It was the home to all of the Dalai Lama’s from the 6th to the current 14th who fled to India in self exile for his safety in 1959. A must see for anyone who goes to Tibet. There is a limit on visitors per day so make sure you plan your visit well in advance.
