Drepung Monastery grounds

A Buddhist monk strolls through the grounds at the Drepung Monastery. Note the TV camera monitoring the grounds. Linda and I soon discovered that there are very few places in Tibet that are not under constant video surveillance. TV cameras, airport style metal detectors and bag scanners plus police ID checks just became the normal procedure for moving about through Tibet.

One of the mos sacred relics of the Drepung Monastery (photographs not allowed, an observer always present to insure no photos. I was honored because of my shoes.......
