An Imperial Blue Eyed Shag. This is the only member of the cormorant family that ventures to the Antarctic. In the northern hemisphere it is commonly blackish in color and seen perched along waterways with it wings spread to dry.
Antarctic Terns are a fairly common sight throughout Antarctica.
The Snowy Sheathbill is the only land based bird in Antarctica. A scavenger that will eat anything and along with the skua’s are the main predators’ of penguin chicks and eggs as well as new born seals.
